Purpose
Following the US Bishops “Renewing the Vision” the St. Joseph/St. Raphael High School Youth Ministry is ministry to, ministry with, ministry by and ministry for the youth. Total Youth Ministry for all high School students at St. Joseph/St. Raphael includes:
Advocacy - examining how well teens are integrated into the life of the community.
Catechesis - Learning more about Jesus, Church teachings, Scripture, Sacraments and living a Catholic Christian life.
Community Life - building environment of love, support and appreciation of diversity.
Evangelization - sharing the good news that the reign of God is realized in and through Jesus.
Justice & Service - reaching out to those in need both within and outside the parish.
Leadership Development - affirming & empowering talents in teens & adults. Pastoral Care - caring for teens & families in crisis through support & counseling.
Prayer & Worship - awaking the awareness of the spirit at work in their lives through communal prayer & liturgical experiences especially Eucharist.
Relationships Youth ministry is built on the relationships between Jesus, the High School student and other members of the parish. All activities are to help these relationships to grow and bear fruit. Each member of the Core Team and any other student who request one will have a Prayer Partner. This is an adult member of the parish who will pray for and with the student throughout their high school years. They are there for each other as they face the joys and challenges of life.
SERVER TRAININGS OFFERED
If you are in the 4th grade or older and are interested in serving Mass we hold trainings for this ministry. Fr. Caylor does the training. Future training will be done on a regular basis.
Please consider volunteering for this ministry.
Adults are also welcome. We have several parent/child teams now serving at St. Joseph. What a wonderful experience to share.
