January 11 - 17, 2009 (more...)
"Are you capable of risking your life for someone ?
Do it for Christ."
- Pope John Paul II
What God wants is NOT your "ABILITY",
but your "AVAILABILITY".
These days, too few heed the call.
Prayer for Vocations
8 Steps to Discerning
"A Son of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is one who is on fire with the love of God, who spreads this fire wherever he goes, and who ardently desires and procures by all possible means to inflame the whole world with the fire of divine love. Nothing daunts him: he takes pleasure in privations, pursues all labors, embraces all sacrifices, cheerfully welcomes all calumnies, and rejoices in every torment. His only thoughts are how he can follow and imitate Jesus Christ in all his labors and sufferings, and how he can always and only look for the greatest glory of God and the salvation of souls."
– St. Anthony Mary Claret
PATHWAYS TO CHRIST
It is a time for all of us to reflect on God’s call in our lives. In a special way, this a time for our Church to focus on the call to priesthood, diaconate and consecrated religious life. The Church needs men and women who will use their lives in witness to the Gospel. As we walk the path, we need those who can serve in our Church and help us on our journey to the Lord.
Pray that many more will open their hearts to hear God’s call. Take some time this week to encourage a family member or someone from the parish to consider serving the Church as a religious sister, religious brother, diocesan priest or deacon.
All Christians are called to follow the Pathways to Christ. Some of us are called to the vocation of marriage, the diaconate, or single life. Others may be called to priesthood or onsecrated religious life. As faithful followers of Jesus Christ, it is our responsibility to listen carefully and follow God’s call in our lives. The Church needs YOU! Each person can make such a difference in continuing the mission of Jesus by offering his or her life in the service of the Church.

PARISH VOCATION COMMITTEE
The Second Vatican Council recommended all parish communities to further vocation awareness in their parishes. We cannot create a “vocation”, only God can do that. But we can create “vocation consciousness”. The Archbishop has asked each parish to develop a Parish Vocation Committee. This Committee will help provide an atmosphere in our parish in which we can prayerfully consider Christ's call in our lives and especially to foster those whom the Lord is calling to the priesthood and religious life. Marianne Kaiser and Connie Kearns are the chair-persons for our Parish Vocation Committee. We invite you to consider being a member on this Committee. We would like to have eight more members who will represent the diversity of our parish. Please consider serving on this committee. Marianne or Connie will contact those who sign up for further details and setting a meeting date. Let us all continue to pray that those whom the Lord is calling to service in the church will respond with a generous “Yes”! If you have any questions, please contact Fr. Caylor at 937-323-7523.
